1.   Across Five Aprils - Civil War Battlefield Landforms Students will research various Civil War battles. The students will choose two battles in which local landforms played a key role either as key offensive or defensive positions desired by one or both sides. The students will determine how the landforms might have played a significant role in the outcomes of the battles.

2.   A View from Me - Civil War Stories Students will view and research historical sources for information about people who lived during the Civil War. They will glean as many details as possible about life during this time and construct a historically accurate story.

3.   Math Quilts - Stories to Tell This math lesson will help students discover a practical application for basic math skills through the design and creation of a classroom quilt. As part of this lesson, students also will investigate the importance of quilts as a facet of cultural history by focusing on the special significance that quilts had during the Civil War.

4.   Now We Are Engaged in a Great Civil War: 1848-1880 Student will reflect on earlier studies and anticipate both future studies of history and their own futures as well by examining the following questions.
