1.   Needs and Wants The student will learn what a need versus a want is. The activity requires old magazines you can cut from.

2.   Introducing the Classroom Economy Students will learn how the economy works in the classroom. They will also define classroom jobs and attach daily salaries to those positions. Credits and debits will be introduced.

3.   The Student Economist The job of student economist will be introduced into the classroom economy.

4.   Who Let the Wise Consumers Out? The students will be involved in activities that will enable them to answer the question, Why do we need to learn to be wise consumers? This will be accomplished in four steps: (a) research on the free market system of the United States and the competition that exists at all levels of society.

5.   Economics In The Secondary School - A Fusion Curriculum Why teach history and the social studies? Better yet, why study history and the social studies? Most of the hundreds of texts and curricula produced each year answer these questions only implicitly.
