Grass Collage Portrait

Students will make collage using materials found in nature. Before they actually make their collage they must go with teacher in the nature to gather all different kinds of leaves and seeds.

• Students will learn about collage,and the various ways of expressing ourselves
• Students will learn about ilustration and caricatures
• Students will learn about facial proportions
• Students will learn about the other artists and their selfportraits
• Students will learn about different kinds of shapes. Geometric shapes, nature shapes, artificial shapes, masculine shapes, feminine shapes...

• Students will learn about collage history of collage the artist who promote the collage as an  new way of art expression.Picasso and Dadaists are the artists that used this form of expression as their artistic language.
• Students will see a reproductions of the collagies of the artist taht are mentioned in the class .
• Students will learn about ilustration and proportions .Learning about proportions from ancient Egypt and Greece till nowdays students will discover that the ideal of human body has changed
• Students will learn more about shape and shapes in human body and face and then they will use their knowledge in making a simple collage from found objects in nature

Teacher will ask about diffrence between shapes from nature and artificial shapes.Teacher will ask them to look for more interesting shapes from nature and bring it on the next class.

After the class in the nature,on the next art class they will show what they have gathered .They will start with assingment and make their grass collage portraits of themselves.

• Students will be prepared for the art class.Teacher will ask them to look in their enviroment,and find interesting things to bring for the class to collage: leaves,grass,seeds...
• Class starts with easy portrait drawing on the paper.Then they use glue to make collage portraits. 

• pencils 9x12 white drawing paper
• white glue or anyother glue you can find it doesnt matter really.You can use paper glue but dont use super glue it is hazard glue I dont use in my class.
• paper - white drawing paper any size really it depends on your childrens energy
• seeds- a lots of different seeds in various colors and shapes maybe found in grocery store or at home in the kitchen
• grass found in the park or in the garden of home
• leaves found on the groung or on the tree
• noodles found in the kitchen

• Tell your students to use their material carefully and to think about how can express them seves through the portrait from leaves
• Tell them to observe them selves from the inside not from the outside.
• The portrait should not be realistic it must be done in expressionistic nature maybe with a little surealistic tone
