Lesson Plan Description

Students will be introduced to technology by identifying those types of technology that they use everyday in their homes or in daily activities and they are then asked to identify what benefit each affords them

Primary Learning Objective(s):

1.SWBAT: define "technology" and list examples of the same 2.SWBAT: compare and contrast the benefits and risks that technology imposes on themselves and the surrounding environment.

Additional Learning Objective(s):

SWBAT: Identify reputable resources available to them in the investigation of subject matters/topics.

SWBAT: Research their resources so that they are considered to be accurate,reliable and credible.

Procedures/Activities:

Watch "popcorn" video and stimulate discussion as to whether the video is believable. List the questions generated by that discussion. Then, try to simulate the popcorn video in the classroom.

Materials/Equipment:

cellphones, popcorn kernels

Additional material: "scientific method design" lab sheet to record the technique and procedure, materials, observations and conclusions.

Assessment Guidelines:

Lab report based on the outcome of the experiment.
