Lesson Plan Description

This is a lesson where the students write a paragraph about another classmate focusing on adjectives and the verb ser.  They also will trace, color and draw the face for the classmate they are writing about.  Lots of crafty items, like yarn for the hair, can be used.

Primary Learning Objective(s):

The primary learning objective is to practice using the correct adjective endings and the correct conjugation of the verb ser.

Additional Learning Objective(s):

Additional objectives would be for the students to practice writing gramatically correct sentences.

Procedures/Activities:

The students will take a lifesize piece of paper and trace the classmate onto the paper.  The student will color and detail the face to look like the classmate he/she is writing about.  The students also color clothes onto the student. Then the student will cut out the traced figure of the classmate.  The student will write a seven sentence paragraph using positive and negative sentences about the student he/she is writing about.  Example:  Mi amiga Luisa no es una chica reservada.  Luisa es una chica muy sociable.  The students write the paragraph on a seperate sheet of paper, including a school photo of the student.  I usually have the students tape the paragraph onto the front of the traced classmate.

Materials/Equipment:

Large paper, crayons, markers, camera (to take pictures) other crafty materials you would like to use.

Assessment Guidelines:

The students are graded on the paragraph and correct grammar usage.  Creativity, and following the timeline.
