Lesson Plan Description

This social studies class is made up of adults returning to school to complete their high school education for the first time.

Primary Learning Objective(s):

My objective is: after a social studies pre-test, students will break into groups and follow a lesson plan specific to that group in order to learn key points missed on the test.

Additional Learning Objective(s):

In  study groups, students will be able to draw, label and locate places on the globe, chart maps and graphs

Procedures/Activities:

Activites will consist of:

  • Completing globe, maps, charts, and graphs from incomplete to complete. Globe must have the prime meridian, longitude, latitude, tropic of cancer, tropic of capricorn, equartor, and continents.
  • Defining the terms/items usd to complete the globe.
  • Organize information on charts and graphs to describe cause and effect, draw a conclusion and summarize information.
  • Find information about political borders, roads, elevations, land forms, weather and climate on a map.

Materials/Equipment:

  • paper
  • wookbooks
  • color markers
  • chalk board
  • chalk
  • chairs/tables for 15 students
  • complete and incomplete maps
  • charts
  • graphs
  • poster board
  • felt like cloth and ---

Assessment Guidelines:

Students will be assessed with: post testing, completion of globe and definitions of , locating information on the maps, and drawing conclusions from charts, and graphs.
